Here’s a few pics, more pics (close ups of the bridal party glasses) are in the gallery.

Happy 2014!!

New year, new things!

Painting…

Ah, hello, it’s been awhile (what else is new? lol).  Ok, I’ve got a ton to report!!  🙂  Today I’m sharing my paintings- these have all been done in the past few months.

Hopefully I’ll get everything else posted soon- I’ve been busy getting ready for Christmas.  More to come on that soon!!

Here’s a couple of my favorites; please see my art work gallery to see the rest!

Just a little behind

Wow, can’t believe I got 2 months behind!  Sorry to those who follow my posts!

Well, as you can probably guess, it’s been pretty busy.  Softball had just started when I posted last- and there were a couple weeks we had softball 3 or 4 times during the week.  Plus Girl Scouts, school concerts and activities, getting ready for the end of the school year, gardening and home repairs have kept us busy!

So, here’s a little peek at some of the stuff that’s been going on:

For a swap in ATC Fun we were to alter a CD.  I’ve hadn’t done any altering but thought I’d take a stab at it.  I scanned some memorbilia from my NYC trip and went to work.  I liked it so much I made one for myself!

I’ve seen lots of cracked marbles on Pintrest and just had to do it myself!  I cracked a lot of marbles for another project that I will post soon (I promise) and I’m planning on using the bigger marbles to make my girls necklaces.

If you haven’t seen this technique before, it’s quite simple.  Bake marbles in a pie tin at 500° for 20 minutes then immediately dump them into a metal bowl of ice water. The effect is so cool!

I re-did a garden this year- covered it completely with mulch and I’m using it for different planters.  One idea I had was a collection of little pitchers and other containers on a table.  My dad is going to make me a table with a slab from a tree trunk (til then I have a temporary table).  I’ve been to the thrift shop a few times and found some great stuff!  This one was clear- I coated the inside with polyurethane then added lots of colored glitter and shook it around.  I was so happy with how it came out!

Also in this garden is a little gnome garden.  I used a 12″ shallow planter, added some moss, a pansy, a gnome and a gnome home.  I made the home out of a little bird house I found at Joanns.  My dad cut the hole into a door and I painted them as mushrooms.  I put one together for my mom for Mother’s Day, too!

My girls made this bouquets of tissue paper flowers for the Grammas and Great-Grammas for Mother’s Day.  My girls are lucky girls- they have 4 Grammas!!

I’ve seen these “gumball machines” at Michael’s and finally decided I needed to make some too!  I made these for a teacher gifts.  The music one I made for the orchestra teacher (painted black with gold stamping) and the floral one is part of my 2nd grader’s teacher gift.

Ok, so there’s a bit of why it’s been so busy!  I will keep my posts up to date…well, I’ll try anyway! 🙂

My First Mini Album

I’ve made my first mini album!  I’ve seen so many cute ones on

Pintrest and decided I needed to make one of my own.

I made this one for a friend of mine who recently lost her mother.

Create

#3- Create.  I love to create.  I’ve always like to draw, paint, take pictures and make crafts, but my last 2 years of high school I really got into painting.  My senior year art class- we were supposed to create 12-16 pieces for our portfolios…I had 43 done by June!  This painting is in honor of all that I learned that year!

Just….Breathe

#2 in the series.  We all need to remember to relax and just breathe!  Life gets busy, kids get crazy, but always remember to make time for those important in your life- your family, your friends, and yourself!  This painting is dedicated to Chris, a great friend who always has time to chat and is just a wonderful lady…and who printed up all my letters for me! 🙂

HOPE

You may remember the 8×10 canvas “Imagine” I did back in February (if not, take a look at my art gallery!).  Well, this inspired me to start a new series of paintings.  Yesterday evening a great friend made me lots of letters with her Cricut machine and today I got to work.

This first painting, acrylic on a 16×20 canvas, is titled “Shades of Pink for HOPE” and is dedicated to my cousin, Sharon, who is a ‘cancer warrior’.   For those battling cancer and those that have beat it… here’s a little HOPE for you!

A Creative Day

Today I had the rare opportunity to spend a couple hours in my room with little interuption.  I got caught up on my ATC FUN swaps and tried a couple “mini” ATCs- one is 1/2 the size (1×3) and the other business card size.  I have a lot of cards that I received from VistaPrint so I used those!  Here are a few, please see my ATC gallery for more of todays work!

These are my business cards.  I stuck them to contact paper to keep them together and painted them with gesso and acrylic

This is a book mark that I made for a mingle in the FUN group

One of my minis- I liked them so much I had to make one for myself!

Black and White and Color

I belong to a very active ATC group – ATC FUN.  And through this group I’ve “met” (online but not in person) LOTS of creative ladies and love following their blogs.  One talented lady, Raeven, had posted a few black and white images that she added color to (check out her blog here) and I thought it was a great idea! So….I selected several of my favorite photos that I’ve taken over the past couple years, converted them to black and white and printed them.  I added some selective color with pastels and here are a few of my favorites:

Dew on a Petal
