More Wine Glasses

Hello all!  It’s been busy (when isn’t it??).  I have  a few more wine glasses to show off- some were given as Christmas presents and I was asked to paint a set for a bridal party!

Here’s a few pics, more pics (close ups of the bridal party glasses) are in the gallery.

Happy 2014!!

New year, new things!

I have opened an Etsy shop!  Please take a moment to check it out!

A Gift for My Sister

It’s been a while, but for several years in a row I gave my sister a gift basket for her birthday and/or Christmas.  After she took her goodies home she would give me the basket back to refill the following year.  Well, the basket has sat empty in my basement the last couple years as we (my daughters) found something else for their Sosh.

This year I made her a little something to put in that basket!  She has recently started drinking wine, so I made her a set of painted wine glasses and a set of wine glass charms.  Added in 2 bottles of wine, some chocolate, a Starbucks gift card and a baby T-Rex (she LOVES the T-Rex)!

I never thought to take a pic of the filled basket but here’s a pic of one of the glasses and the wine charms.

I had a lot of fun painting her glasses…so I had to make one for myself!  Did you think it would be anything besides softball? 🙂

I’m slowly adding colors to my glass paint collection…I’ve found just one more thing I love to do! 🙂  Stay tuned as I’m sure there will be more glasses coming…

Painting…

Ah, hello, it’s been awhile (what else is new? lol).  Ok, I’ve got a ton to report!!  🙂  Today I’m sharing my paintings- these have all been done in the past few months.

Hopefully I’ll get everything else posted soon- I’ve been busy getting ready for Christmas.  More to come on that soon!!

Here’s a couple of my favorites; please see my art work gallery to see the rest!

Just a little behind

Wow, can’t believe I got 2 months behind!  Sorry to those who follow my posts!

Well, as you can probably guess, it’s been pretty busy.  Softball had just started when I posted last- and there were a couple weeks we had softball 3 or 4 times during the week.  Plus Girl Scouts, school concerts and activities, getting ready for the end of the school year, gardening and home repairs have kept us busy!

So, here’s a little peek at some of the stuff that’s been going on:

For a swap in ATC Fun we were to alter a CD.  I’ve hadn’t done any altering but thought I’d take a stab at it.  I scanned some memorbilia from my NYC trip and went to work.  I liked it so much I made one for myself!

I’ve seen lots of cracked marbles on Pintrest and just had to do it myself!  I cracked a lot of marbles for another project that I will post soon (I promise) and I’m planning on using the bigger marbles to make my girls necklaces.

If you haven’t seen this technique before, it’s quite simple.  Bake marbles in a pie tin at 500° for 20 minutes then immediately dump them into a metal bowl of ice water. The effect is so cool!

I re-did a garden this year- covered it completely with mulch and I’m using it for different planters.  One idea I had was a collection of little pitchers and other containers on a table.  My dad is going to make me a table with a slab from a tree trunk (til then I have a temporary table).  I’ve been to the thrift shop a few times and found some great stuff!  This one was clear- I coated the inside with polyurethane then added lots of colored glitter and shook it around.  I was so happy with how it came out!

Also in this garden is a little gnome garden.  I used a 12″ shallow planter, added some moss, a pansy, a gnome and a gnome home.  I made the home out of a little bird house I found at Joanns.  My dad cut the hole into a door and I painted them as mushrooms.  I put one together for my mom for Mother’s Day, too!

My girls made this bouquets of tissue paper flowers for the Grammas and Great-Grammas for Mother’s Day.  My girls are lucky girls- they have 4 Grammas!!

I’ve seen these “gumball machines” at Michael’s and finally decided I needed to make some too!  I made these for a teacher gifts.  The music one I made for the orchestra teacher (painted black with gold stamping) and the floral one is part of my 2nd grader’s teacher gift.

Ok, so there’s a bit of why it’s been so busy!  I will keep my posts up to date…well, I’ll try anyway! 🙂

Create

#3- Create.  I love to create.  I’ve always like to draw, paint, take pictures and make crafts, but my last 2 years of high school I really got into painting.  My senior year art class- we were supposed to create 12-16 pieces for our portfolios…I had 43 done by June!  This painting is in honor of all that I learned that year!

Just….Breathe

#2 in the series.  We all need to remember to relax and just breathe!  Life gets busy, kids get crazy, but always remember to make time for those important in your life- your family, your friends, and yourself!  This painting is dedicated to Chris, a great friend who always has time to chat and is just a wonderful lady…and who printed up all my letters for me! 🙂

HOPE

You may remember the 8×10 canvas “Imagine” I did back in February (if not, take a look at my art gallery!).  Well, this inspired me to start a new series of paintings.  Yesterday evening a great friend made me lots of letters with her Cricut machine and today I got to work.

This first painting, acrylic on a 16×20 canvas, is titled “Shades of Pink for HOPE” and is dedicated to my cousin, Sharon, who is a ‘cancer warrior’.   For those battling cancer and those that have beat it… here’s a little HOPE for you!

A Creative Day

Today I had the rare opportunity to spend a couple hours in my room with little interuption.  I got caught up on my ATC FUN swaps and tried a couple “mini” ATCs- one is 1/2 the size (1×3) and the other business card size.  I have a lot of cards that I received from VistaPrint so I used those!  Here are a few, please see my ATC gallery for more of todays work!

These are my business cards.  I stuck them to contact paper to keep them together and painted them with gesso and acrylic

My room

A while back I had posted that I now had my own art room.  It’s been a work in progress (and probably always will be) but it’s finally pretty functional!  I’ve made lots of scrapbook pages, ATCs and paintings in my new room.  It’s a pretty small room, only 7ft x 9ft but I’m making it work…it’s better than the dining room table!

This is the view from standing just inside the door

from the door

This table was custom made by my Dad for all my paper crafting.  Adjustable shelves hold all my paper and stickers.  Underneath I’ve attached an envelope for scraps and my stencils.  The shelf above the table holds my pictures that are ready for scrapping, Sharpies, and little bitty stuff! My cutter hangs just under the shelf.

I have a nice window in my room!  It’s recessed and has a nice wide sill that holds my dock for my iPhone and a few old Care Bears from when I was little.  The long hanging frame will slowly be filled with a few of my favorite pics of my girls.

above the table

To the right of my table is a bookshelf for all my scrapbooks in progress, stamps, ink and other accessories.  And some of my favorite artwork on the wall.  And my painting corner.

to the right of my table

On the same wall as the door (well, in the corner behind my table) is my painting corner.  Finally, a permanent spot for my easel, canvases and paints!  My dad built me the paint table out of scraps so it doesn’t matter if it gets a little messy!  I hung my brush roll with push pins on the wall to save a little room.

painting corner

Next to my painting corner (behind my table) is another bookshelf with ATC and smash book supplies plus other odds and ends.  On the wall is a little shelf with my softball stuff- one player made me an Orbeez filled softball and I had an extra trophy last year (a player dropped out after the first practice) so I added that to my shelf too!  On the back of the door is a shoe organizer I use to store all my adhesives- tacky glue, mounting tape, E-600, Mod Podge, etc.  And a left over Little Mermaid painting on the wall from when this used to be the girls’ playroom.  Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie so I left it on the wall for me! 🙂  There’s a little storage space under the stairs that I just added a few plastic bins to for misc stuff and my sewing machine.  Much easier than hauling it upstairs all the time!
